Examples of equipment adaptations and scientific support methods in high-performance paracanoers

Michal will give an introduction to differences in the equipment, and its adaptations between sports classes. The second part of the lecture will be focused on the athletes' assessment methods. In this part, Michal concentrates on the applications of exercise physiology.
Michal has been involved in canoe sport for over 25 years, including as a professional athlete, coach and Supervisor of the National Paracanoe Programme. He has been Head coach of the successful Polish Paracanoe Team. Michal is engaged in the Sport Rehabilitation Association START organisation in Poland, and also as researcher at the Institute of Sport, Warsaw, Poland.

Listen to Mats-Erik who will tell you about how to plan, arrange and realize an overnight-camp in tents with persons with physical disability. RG Aktiv Rehabilitering has over 20 years’ of experience of arranging recreational outdoor paddling tours. Mats-Erik shows the solutions used for both the paddling part, and for the camp life and staying in tents. You will get a picture of how RG Aktiv Rehabilitering plan for the hike, and the preparations the participants themselves do before the hike.
Mats-Erik Bjerkefors is rehab instructor and manager for outdoor life activities at RG Aktiv Rehablitering, an NGO based in Stockholm primarily working with activites, leader training and education for people with physical impairment.
